This type is designed for playing indoor soccer on indoor courts and fields (like gym or indoor soccer facilities). They are actually flat-surfaced, low-cut shoes with a slightly harder surface area than a traditional sneaker.

When you are playing indoor soccer, there are factors that you need to be concerned with that are different from when you play soccer outdoors. When you are indoors, you need more traction, and it is important to have a more flexible shoe. History

The Adidas Samba was produced in 1950 and became a popular indoor soccer shoe because of its design and the traction it provided. When you have the proper shoe, you reduce your risk of injury, which is more common and can be more severe–especially to your joints–in an indoor soccer arena.

Function

There are two types of indoor soccer shoes. If you are playing on an artificial turf, you will want a pair of turf indoor soccer shoes. These have patterns built into the soles to prevent you from slipping. When playing soccer on artificial turf, it’s easier to slide and fall, since the turf is created from man-made plastic-like materials. There are plain indoor soccer shoes that have a hard, flat rubber sole, which is designed to support your feet on a gym floor. The inside and outside of all indoor soccer shoes are flexible yet stabilizing.

Features

Indoor soccer shoes are lightweight and don’t have cleats. The sole is rubber and also padded inside to provide proper arch support. The rest of the shoe is often made of leather, since this material forms to the foot while also enabling movement. Most soccer shoes have the same upper (top of the shoe) and midsole (inside of the shoe), so when you are looking for an indoor soccer shoe, pay attention to the outsole (bottom of the shoe).
