Firm Ground Cleats | Flat Indoor Cleats | Turf Soccer Shoes

Many people don’t realize the difference in cleats and soccer fields. Personally, I have learned from that mistake. There are many types of fields; Hard Ground, Firm Ground, Soft Ground, Turf, and Indoor Gyms. These fields each require and recommend different kinds of cleats.

A hard ground field and artificial turf both need cleats that have a high amount of short studs, these help with durability and stability on the field. When it comes to firm ground fields, cleats with less studs are used. These cleats provide traction and stability, as well. Soft ground cleats are used for fields that are wet and very soft to the touch. These cleats have very few studs and are able to be removed. Lastly, but surely not least Indoor gyms use indoor shoes. These shoes are like normal shoes, however they are used to promote traction on a court or in the street. Knowing the difference between what cleats to use on what fields will help prevent injuries.

Many soccer players don’t realize that fields are designed differently and can cause shin splints, ankle rolls, and many ankle sprains. Knowing what cleats to wear will not only improve your skills on the field, but make you enjoy the season even more. Soccer is a passion of mine, I hope it becomes yours too.

Association football (soccer)

In association football (soccer), where the shoes themselves are known as football boots, there are three different cleat types. There are soft ground cleats which are made for wet weather. The soft ground cleats are always replaceable, and are almost always metal, so when they wear down they are easy to replace. There are firm ground cleats which are made for firm natural surfaces. Also there are hard ground cleats which are made for hard natural surfaces.
